Your role at Thin Air Labs
Thin Air Labs helps innovative companies grow. We are looking for someone with a passion for innovation and a drive to build a career in sales to join Thin Air Labs' Funding Catalyst team.
Our Funding Catalyst team works collaboratively with founding teams of startups and scaleups to help them develop a non-dilutive funding strategy, identify optimal funding sources, and create compelling narratives for grant applications.
We are on a mission to be the trusted source for non-dilutive capital strategy and grant execution across North America.
Since its inception, Funding Catalyst has helped hundreds of startups and scaleups across sectors secure $100M+ in non-dilutive capital (grants, SR&ED, RFPs, etc.), accelerating their growth and development.
At Thin Air, we are:
- Founder focused, supporting founders who create meaningful human impact
- Infinitely curious about our founders and the companies they’re building
- Unlike minds, valuing differences in perspective and ways of thinking
- Impact driven, we strive to help bring ideas into reality for real world impact
In this role you will:
- Build the top of our sales funnel by researching prospective clients, developing targeted lists, and reaching out through email, phone, LinkedIn, events, and other channels
- Engage with founders and growing companies to learn about their businesses, identify potential funding needs, and introduce Thin Air Labs
- Plan and execute event and conference strategies
- Qualify prospective clients and book meetings for our Account Executives, providing the context needed for a productive conversation
- Help develop social media content that shares relevant funding opportunities, client stories, and insights from Canada's innovation ecosystem
- Maintain accurate prospect and activity records in HubSpot and follow up consistently on promising conversations
- Collaborate with the broader Funding Catalyst and Thin Air Labs teams and jump into new concepts outside of your comfort zone
- Contribute to our sales team’s culture by testing outreach approaches, AI-driven workflows, and new ways to reach innovative companies
This role is designed to help you develop your sales skills, with opportunities to take on greater responsibility as you build experience and demonstrate results.
You would be described as:
- An early-career professional who is curious, motivated, and eager to learn; prior sales experience is welcome but not required
- A thoughtfully persistent and outcome-driven person with a passion for helping startups and high-growth ventures succeed
- Comfortable starting conversations, asking good questions, listening deeply, and tailoring your message to the person you are speaking with
- A strong writer who can turn research into clear, relevant outreach and engaging social media content
- Organized and attentive to detail, with the ability to manage multiple prospects and follow through on commitments
- A life-long learner, independent thinker and collaborative team player who is comfortable learning sales software and AI tools (HubSpot, Apollo, G-suite, LinkedIn)
- Receptive to feedback and willing to improve your approach when an outreach message or campaign is not working
- An interest in startups, marketing, SR&ED, or non-dilutive funding is considered an asset
- Must be located in Calgary, Alberta
You will be responsible for:
- Researching companies and contacts that fit our target markets and building prospect lists for outbound campaigns
- Running consistent, personalized outreach and booking qualified sales meetings
- Asking initial discovery questions, identifying potential fit, and providing clear handoffs to Account Executives
- Tracking outreach, responses, qualifications, and next steps accurately in HubSpot
- Working with Account Executives to understand which meetings become opportunities and refine your targeting and messaging
- Supporting the creation and scheduling of social media content that helps build awareness and generate interest in Thin Air Labs
- Assisting with sales administration, including CRM maintenance, meeting preparation, and event coordination, as part of the role
- Staying current on the non-dilutive funding and innovation landscape in target markets to help identify relevant prospects and conversation starters
- Attending networking events and conferences, appropriately representing the Thin Air Labs brand
The role is hybrid with 2 day work from home allowance.
